Abstract. Lab experiment was performed with Beggiatoa sp. 35Flor strain under defined conditions. Bacteria were cultivated under phosphate limited conditions until stationary phase (6th day after inoculation) with subsequent transfer to a new media to get 5th generations of starved culture. 6 days old 5th generation P starved cultures were supplemented with 100 µL of 0.5 mmol L-1 KH2PO4 dissolved in artificial seawater and sampled for total P, protein content, total dissolved P, dissolved inorganic phosphate and filaments for microscopy. Throughout the incubation period, samples were collected immediately (within first 10 min) after adding P-supplement, after 30 min, 2 h, and 24 h of incubation with phosphate. The entire experiment was repeated 5 times.
